Fellaini Feature

Could Manchester United Star Marouane Fellaini Be Set for Deadline Day Exit?

Flop Fellaini now a must for Mourinho’s men, as he finally finds his feet at United.

There is no doubt that Fellaini’s start to life at Manchester United was a rocky one, but 5 years after joining United he finally seems to be the real deal.

Joining United in 2013, as what fans and pundits alike said was a ‘panic buy’ by David Moyes, the £27.5 million deadline day signing scored no goals in his first season at the club. Later the same year, Fellaini was listed as one of the top ten worst signings of the season, despite being ranked 60th in the top 100 best footballers the season before.

Fellaini had gone from being one of Europe’s finest to one of the worst in less than 12 months, with many united fans calling for his departure after only 16 league games at the club.

Now in Fellaini’s fifth season at the Manchester team, he is silencing critics and proving his worth to the fans and team mates alike, with 10 wins out of 11 league games this season - accompanied with a tally of 6 goals in all competitions.

However with the summer signing of Nemanja Matić, £90 million signing of Paul Pogba and United’s 2016 player of the year Ander Herrera, Fellaini isn’t getting much game time under his new boss as he finds himself as Jose’s fourth choice option.

Now with the January transfer window coming to a close and the season reaching its half way point, Fellaini is set to leave Manchester in order to cement a place in Belgium’s world Cup squad, after rejecting a contract offer from the red devils. However, Manchester United manager Mourinho is set to make one last attempt to keep the big Belgium at the Manchester club by tempting him with the role of vice-captain – a role many united players would desire to be given.

However with growing interest from some of Europe’s biggest teams including, Juventus and Valencia, Fellaini could reject United’s latest offer and leave as a free agent this July, with the player and his representatives sensing that this could be the 30 year olds last big contract deal.

So with one day left of the January window, will Fellaini stay at united or could he make another late deadline move?
